Karanj and Kakria to increase ginger production

Mr Ranjit Sinh suggests a method to prevent weeds in ginger to increase its production. The land is first prepared, followed by the addition of manure and castor cake. A 6 X 6 cm distance is maintained while sowing the seeds. Dried leaves of “Karanjâ€_x009d_, Indian Beech (Pongamia pinnata (L.) Pierre.) and “Kakriaâ€_x009d_, Bastard Teak (Butea monosperma (Lam.) Taub.) are spread between the rows of rhizomes. Pongamia pinnata are useful green leaf mulch (ICRISAT, 2005, unpubli-shed data; Parmathma et. al. 2004)
